Sticking it to the man

The World Development Movement (known today as ‘Global Justice Now’) work to uncover the complex economic systems that cause global poverty and injustice. The fundraising appeals shown here focus on the manipulation of African farming by financial institutions and hedge funds resulting in communities across the continent being no longer able to sustain themselves. Using satire in WDMs communications can engage the reader in what is very complicated material without dumbing down or simplifying the story. And the photoshoot for the ‘cake’ creative has to be the messiest day I’ve spent in a studio.
